Haringey Welcome 2026 local election pledge
We invited candidates standing in the 2026 Haringey local election to adopt the following principles for a welcoming borough for all.
Should I be successfully elected, I pledge to:
- work with communities and organisations to support migrant residents to settle and thrive
- commit to non-cooperation with central government on policies and practices that are harmful to migrant residents in our community, to the extent that this is legally possible
- work within the Council to remove barriers to access to public services for those in the immigration and asylum system, and ensure services are delivered on the basis of dignity, equality and needs-first
- commit to review the Haringey Contracts Register and wherever possible end contracts with corporations profiting from hostile immigration and asylum practices.
