HARINGEY WELCOME
CODE OF CONDUCT
- Purpose
This Code sets out the shared expectations for how we work together and treat one another as part of Haringey Welcome. It applies to Board members, paid staff, Advisory Group members, volunteers, and contractors, and supports safe, respectful, and inclusive spaces.
- Our Values
All conduct should reflect Haringey Welcome’s values of dignity, justice, and welcome.
3. General Conduct
Everyone involved with Haringey Welcome will:
- Treat all people with dignity and respect.
- Avoid harassment, bullying, or discrimination.
- Communicate clearly and avoid exclusionary behaviour.
- Be honest and transparent.
- Follow organisational policies.
- Protect confidentiality and personal data.
- Declare conflicts of interest.
- Use resources responsibly.
- Safeguarding and Boundaries
Everyone must follow the Safeguarding Policy.
- Report concerns to your key contact or the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
- Maintain appropriate personal boundaries.
- Avoid offering or receiving gifts or money where this could create pressure, obligation, or perceived favouritism.
- All relationships should reflect care, respect, and kindness.
- Equality, Inclusion and Anti-Oppression
We uphold fairness, dignity, respect, justice, equality, and antiracism. No discriminatory behaviour is tolerated.
We recognise that people may have been made vulnerable by circumstances outside their control, including hostile systems, displacement, or discrimination.
- Respectful Disagreement and Conflict Resolution
- Challenge ideas, not people.
- Raise concerns constructively.
- Seek mediation or facilitated discussion where helpful.
- Avoid gossip or harmful online commentary.
- Health, Safety, and Substance Use
- Follow relevant safety guidance.
- Do not participate while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
- Report hazards promptly.
- Events, Digital, and Social Media Conduct
- Communicate respectfully.
- Do not share images or personal stories without valid consent.
- Do not speak for the organisation unless authorised.
- Report online harassment or misuse.
- Confidentiality and Data Protection
- Handle personal information responsibly and in line with Haringey Welcome’s GDPR commitments. • Do not share personal or immigration-status information externally without explicit consent unless legally required.
- Ensure valid consent before sharing stories or images.
- Breach of the Code
- Concerns may be raised with the Chair, the Designated Safeguarding Lead, or your key contact.
- Issues involving harm follow the Safeguarding Policy.
- Repeated or serious breaches may lead to removal from a role.
- Anyone raising a concern in good faith will be supported.
